Songkran 2025

Songkran Celebration
สุขสันต์วันสงกรานต์

At Meritton, Songkran is a time to pause, reflect, and joyfully come together to welcome the Thai New Year. On Friday, 11th April, we celebrated this meaningful occasion with all students, from Early Years to Secondary School, giving them the opportunity to enjoy the festivities alongside their friends and teachers.

Students took part in the traditional รดน้ำดำหัว (rod-nam-dam-hua) ceremony, gently pouring water over the hands of teachers and the senior leadership team as a gesture of respect and to seek blessings for the year ahead.

The Thai Language and Culture Department organised a vibrant ‘Songkran Fun Fest’, inspired by the lively atmosphere of a งานวัด (ngaan-wat) – the colourful temple fairs found throughout Thailand. Students enjoyed a range of traditional games, cultural activities, and festive fun with their friends before heading off for the holiday break.

As we approach the end of the academic year, we encouraged all Meritton families to embrace this special time with their loved ones. We hope their Songkran was filled with kindness, renewal, and joyful moments together. Wishing everyone a new year blessed with warmth, happiness, and peace.
